The Global Energy Crisis resulted in the UK Government providing billions of pounds of Taxpayer’s money to provide additional support to energy consumers over the winter period to lower the costs of energy when they were most impacted.
The Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS) reduction ended on 31st March 2023. The Scheme was replaced with Energy Bill Discount Scheme (EBDS). For many, EBDS will not apply because the wholesale rate contracted is lower than the threshold set by the Government to invoke EBDS.

This table provides the daily discount rates available for business and other non-domestic energy users who are on both fixed and default / variable contracts with their energy supplier. Remember, if you are a domestic consumer and you purchase your energy through your landlord, these are the discounts your landlord will expect to see on their energy bill and will eventually filter down to you.
The data contained within the table will be updated on a weekly basis to reflect market developments.
If you live on a heat network your building may be entitled to an accelerated rate of EBDS but the Heat Supplier has to send an application for a certificate to be issued by DESNZ and this may take up to 6 months to process before you see it on your invoice.
